The TEFL Teaching Hub is owned and operated by Mike Masse.
Mike started teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) over 20 years ago, when he first left his home of America to head to the distant shores of Japan. At the time, he was young and dumb, fresh out of college and confident that he could teach English despite not having taught before because it wasn’t that hard; he’d learned it, after all.
Imagine his surprise when he arrived in Japan and, despite having never taught before, it was actually REALLY hard to teach English!
After years of learning through trial and error, as well as taking a number of classes, going to various seminars and reading as much as he could, he gradually found his feet and found he really enjoyed teaching and did so in a variety of settings; private language schools, public and private schools, universities and even a little online stuff.
Wanting to pay it forward to all of those people that helped him grow as a teacher (and still do to this day, because he hasn’t stopped learning new things yet), he started the TEFL Teaching Hub to help pass his knowledge on to those who are considering becoming a TEFL teacher, are new TEFL teachers, and even the more experienced TFEL teachers.
And even if you don’t want to be a TEFL teacher but are still looking to get into education, a lot of what he’s learned translates to other classrooms as well.
So, if you are a TEFL teacher, a potential one, or someone heading into a different classroom remember I’m pulling for you; we’re all in this together.
