About Us

Hi, I’m Mike Masse. I started teaching English in Japan over 20 years ago, and am a licensed TEFL teacher with a 250-hour certificate from OnTESOL.

Over that time, I’ve learned a lot about teaching in a variety of environments. I’ve taught in private language schools, public elementary and Jr. High schools and universities. I’ve also done private lessons on the side.

I’ve taught many types of lessons, as well; English for Young Learners (as young as 2), English for returnees, general “4-skills” English, business English lessons, test preparation, writing, reading and more.

Beyond teaching, I’ve gotten involved with a lot of other aspects of TEFL and the English education industry I never could have anticipated when I got my first job, like materials and curriculum development, hiring and HR, teacher training, school management, marketing, and more.

It’s been quite a run, if I do say so myself.

I created The TEFL Teaching Hub because, after 20 years of teaching children and adults English as a Foreign Language, one of the things I’ve also come to enjoy doing is teaching new teachers.

Becoming a TEFL teacher is a gateway to a whole new world of experiences, people and a way of life.

My goal here is to give aspiring, new and (hopefully) more experienced teachers with training, education and resources to make us all better teachers.
